Statement Regarding Rita Hart Nomination

Council Bluffs, Iowa-Jake Porter, the Libertarian nominee for Iowa Governor, released the following statement regarding Senator Rita Hart joining the race as the Democrat nominee for LT. Governor:

“I welcome Rita into this race and look forward to a serious discussion of the issues during this campaign. Congratulations on her nomination.”
Last Saturday, the Libertarian Party of Iowa nominated Lynne Gentry as their LT. Governor candidate.

Gentry, a Calhoun County native, has been an active member of the Libertarian Party since 2009. She served on the Executive Committee as the representative for Congressional District 4. In 2014, she ran for the House District 10 seat. In that race, she achieved 21% of the vote and carried a precinct.

On Tuesday, June 5th, Council Bluffs business consultant Jake Porter won the first Libertarian primary for Iowa Governor with a 54%-38% victory over Marco Battaglia. The Libertarian Party of Iowa has over 10,000 registered voters in the state.
